Hawaii BOTOX Tips—When to Get It + What To Do Before & After

Hawaii Botox

In BOTOX® as in life, timing is everything. Maybe you have a big day coming up, are diving back into the dating pool, or finally feel ready to show those lines some love. Whatever your reason, avoid the pitfalls and have an amazing BOTOX® experience at Honolulu MedSpa with this easy guide.

When to do BOTOX® for a special occasion:

The key here is to NOT be a BOTOX® newbie when the big day arrives. We advise that you schedule your treatment two to four weeks before any big event. This allows time for any bruising to diminish, your aesthetician to make adjustments if needed, and this is when optimal results really set in.

What to do before getting BOTOX®:

At Honolulu MedSpa, we’ll go over your full medical history to determine if BOTOX® is a good fit for you. If it is and you’ve booked a treatment, here’s how to prepare in the days and hours leading up to your BOTOX® session:

3 to 5 days before treatment: Put away the pills. From now until your session, you’ll need to avoid muscle relaxants, sleeping pills, blood thinners and OTC painkillers (such as aspirin).

1 to 2 days before treatment: Time to set down that glass of wine. Avoid drinking any kind of alcohol from now until after your session. In addition, stay away from waxing, tweezing, or using hair removal creams on the area to be treated. Use sunscreen to ensure you don’t have any sun damage on the day of your BOTOX® injection.

Just before treatment: Show up with a clean face. Wash off all makeup and arrive at the clinic a little ahead of time so you can relax and fill out any required forms.

How to care for your skin after BOTOX®:

The first few hours: Do your facial exercises. These help the BOTOX® work its way into your facial muscles. Avoid wearing makeup for a couple hours. Be sure not to lie down; rather keep upright (that means no yoga!) for 3 to 4 hours, and stay away from strenuous exercise and alcohol too.

The following days: Use sunscreen with a high SPF to protect your skin from getting burned or damaged in this period. Now is not the time to do a facial or go to the sauna. Instead, try to be gentle to your skin and avoid putting pressure on your face. Don’t worry if you don’t see any results right away, BOTOX® can take up to 14 days to take full effect.

A few weeks after: Schedule a follow-up appointment to assess the results and make any adjustments needed.

Finally: Enjoy the results of your BOTOX® treatment: softer lines, fewer wrinkles, and more youthful you!
