Dermaplaning, Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peels. What’s the difference?

About Honolulu MedSpa

With such a huge variety of exfoliating treatments available, it’s good to know the difference between dermaplaning, microdermabrasion and chemical peels. Women and men with various skin problems from sun damage to rosacea and even acne can benefit from these treatments.
Listed below are some skin care services that will help you achieve that healthy, youthful and glowing complexion you deserve!

Dermaplaning:
Dermaplaning exfoliates the epidermis which removes dead skin cells and reduces fine hairs (peach fuzz) on the skin. It uses a scalpel to “shave” away the outermost layers of the skin to achieve smoother, brighter skin. This process is painless and very safe, especially for pregnant and nursing women as there are no chemicals or peeling agents applied to the skin. The beauty of it is, there’s no downtime and the results are immediate. Pricing starts at $175

Hydrafacial Microdermabrasion:
Our unique Hydrafacial system uses vortex technology that exfoliates away the top layers of dead, dull skin cells, revealing fresh, glowing, rejuvenated skin. Hydrafacial treats light scarring, discoloration, sun damage, and large pore size. It also helps to soften fine lines and wrinkles, which result in a younger looking complexion. As we age, our healthy cell turnover slows down, but with the help of Hydrafacial we can slough away impurities and reveal fresh, invigorated, glowing skin. There is no downtime associated with Hydrafacial. If extractions are performed you may see erythema to the area for a few hours post treatment. Pricing starts at $150

Chemical Peels:
A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to smooth the texture of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers. It is one of the least invasive ways to improve the appearance of your skin from sun exposure, acne, fine lines and wrinkles, brown spots and scaring. Chemical peels are used to improve the overall appearance of your skin. It’s important to keep in mind that the treatment, results and recovery time will vary depending on the strength of your chemical peel and sensitivity of your skin. There can be 3-5 days of social downtime as your skin will go through an exfoliation period. A tight, dry feeling to the skin should be expected during the week of recovery. Pricing starts at $125
